About
Kalindi College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi that provides higher education to young women. The college's motto conveys three virtues: knowledge, modesty and sense of duty.
History
Kalindi College was established in 1967. It began as Government College Devnagar and within a year moved to its present location, a former Government School building in East Patel Nagar. The Humanities Honours Courses were introduced in 1971 and Commerce (Prog.) in 1977. Postgraduate courses in Political Science, Hindi and Sanskrit were added in 1987, 1991 and 1992, and the professional course of Journalism was introduced in 1995.
Academics and Campus
The college runs sixteen departmental societies and twenty nine Programmes / Committees. Its mission includes maintaining an inclusive teaching-learning environment and encouraging environment conservation for a sustainable future. Early infrastructure expansion added a new administrative block, a Science Block and a multipurpose Sangam Parisar. Facilities include a library, a Convention Centre, a Sports Utility Centre, an Auditorium, an Amphitheatre and cyber centres for students and teachers.
Recognition
In Antardhvani-2013 it won second prize of Rupees 7 Lakhs as a University Award of Good Practices, and in Antardhvani-2015 it won third prize of Rupees 5 Lakhs in the same award category.
