Jefferson offers over 60 programs, certificates, and microcredentials across career and transfer pathways. The college provides 14 A.A.S. (Associate in Applied Science) career curricula, 12 transfer A.A. or A.S. curricula, and six certificate programs. Six programs are available entirely online, with flexible scheduling options including 4-, 8-, and 15-week classes offered daytime or evening. Jefferson has transfer agreements with major institutions including Cornell University, Syracuse University, and SUNY schools, with a special dual admission agreement with SUNY Potsdam for seamless transfer. The college also partners with Upstate Medical University, Keuka College, Empire State University, and Paul Smith's College to offer bachelor's and graduate degrees on campus.
The 90-acre suburban campus near Interstate 81 features ten permanent buildings including the Jules Center, Samuel Guthrie Building, and the Collaborative Learning Center. East Hall, opened in Fall 2014, provides on-campus housing for 294 students in suite-style units. The campus includes athletic fields, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond, soccer/lacrosse fields, and a walking/running trail. Students participate in NJCAA Division III sports including men's and women's soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and hockey. The college hosts numerous student clubs, cultural events, and activities, with an average enrollment of 2,371 full-time and part-time students.
Jefferson accepts applications year-round with no application fee. The college offers personalized admissions support including campus tours, class observations, advising appointments, and FAFSA labs. Students can schedule admissions appointments to discuss applications and major selection. The college serves military and veteran students, with 42% of the student body military or military-related, and offers classes at nearby Fort Drum. Transfer credit evaluation and College in High School programs are available. Open house events provide opportunities to tour the modern residence halls and meet faculty.
Jefferson emphasizes high graduation and job placement rates through comprehensive career services. The college provides career coaching, personality and career inventories, resume and cover letter development, mock interviewing, and personalized career counseling appointments. Students access Handshake for employer connections and internship opportunities. The college offers full-service job placement and career counseling services, with workshops on career readiness competencies aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Academic advisors help chart student paths, and targeted support is available for first-time college students, those needing extra help, and military/veteran students.
