The School of Design, Media and Creative Arts (SDMCA) offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in design, media, and creative arts. Undergraduate offerings include B.Des. programs in Product Design, Communication Design, and Interaction Design; B.A. (Hons) programs in Communication Design, UI/UX, Fashion Design, and Film Making; and Bachelor of Fine Arts. Postgraduate programs include M.Des. in Product Design and User Experience Design, M.A. in Fashion Design, Communication Design, and Film Making, and Master of Fine Arts. The curriculum emphasizes studio-based learning, design thinking, user-centric approaches, and industry collaboration, with a foundation year allowing students to explore design domains before specialization.
The School operates from two locations: the Study Campus at Sugatta Village, Hunasamaranahalli Post, Jala Hobli, Bengaluru (562157), and the Admission Office at JAIN Knowledge Campus, Jayanagar 9th Block, Bangalore (560069). Facilities include a Model Making Studio with tools and machines for wood, metal, and plastic materials; Photography Studio; Paint Shop; Computer Studio with academic and commercial software; Drawing Studio; and Preview Rooms with editable sound systems. The campus is designed to support hands-on, project-based collaborative learning.
Undergraduate admissions require passing 10+2 examination with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates). Selection involves the JET Exam comprising Portfolio Review and Personal Interview. Candidates with valid UCEED ranks can directly attend Portfolio Review and Personal Interview. Postgraduate admissions follow separate pathways. The school welcomes international applications through dedicated international admissions channels.
The institution assures 100% placements across all streams. Graduates pursue careers as furniture designers, packaging designers, automotive designers, design researchers, and design educators. Many venture into entrepreneurship, launching design firms or product companies. Career progression opportunities include roles such as General Manager (Design), Chief Designer, and Senior Vice President (Design) in industries including consumer electronics, automotive, furniture, and manufacturing.

Industry exposure mechanisms include on-campus industry interactions, internships, industry projects, and workshops. Faculty members include accomplished designers from major institutes like NID and IITs, as well as industry professionals. The Board of Studies and Industry Advisory Board comprise members from leading design institutes and sectors including IT, manufacturing, electronics, handicrafts, and handlooms.
