Jagat Taran Girls' Degree College is located at 32, A.N. Jha Road, George Town, Prayagraj – 211002. The college is centrally located in the heart of the city, about a kilometer from the main campus of the University of Allahabad. Its vision is quality education comparable to global standards, with a mission centred on women empowerment and the development of value-oriented, competent human resources for society and the nation.
History
The college was founded in 1975 as an associated college of the University of Allahabad. It was declared a constituent college when the University achieved Central Status on 14th July, 2005.
Academics
Ph.D. programs have been approved in Geography, Hindi and Economics from the 2022-23 session by the University of Allahabad. UGC approved new vocational and skill-oriented courses for the 2020-21 session, including B.Voc in Web Technology and Multimedia. The Bachelor of Arts course is aided by the Government, while the B.Com. course is self-financed. The college also publishes research papers, journals and proceedings as one of its objectives.
Campus & Facilities
The college has an active Educational Lab in its Education Department, along with NSS and NCC units that help students extend their services to society. Listed facilities include a library, book bank, classrooms and seminar room, auditorium, computer labs, network resource centre, language lab, multimedia lab, geography lab, data analysis lab and a power backup generator.
Admissions
Admission to B.A. Part 1 is through CUET-UG merit, and B.Com. Part 1 (self-financed) is through CUET merit. M.A. Semester 1 admission is through PGAT merit, and Ph.D. admission is through CRET.
Recognition
It was selected by UGC as a College with Potential for Excellence in 2010 and was again selected for CPE (phase-II) with effect from F.Y. 2014-15.
