Academics
ISI offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across multiple levels. Undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Statistics (Honours), Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours), and Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (Honours). Postgraduate offerings include Master of Statistics, Master of Mathematics, Master of Science in Quantitative Economics, Master of Science in Quality Management Science, Master of Science in Library and Information Science, and three Master of Technology programs in Computer Science, Cryptology and Security, and Quality, Reliability & Operations Research. The institute also provides Junior and Senior Research Fellowships leading to Ph.D. degrees, with a maximum duration of 6+1 years. Diploma programs include Postgraduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics, Agricultural and Rural Management with Statistical Methods and Analytics, Business Analytics, and Applied Statistics. Certificate courses in Statistical Quality Control are offered at Bangalore and Hyderabad centers.
Research & Innovation
ISI operates dedicated research centers focused on Cryptology & Security, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Data Analytics, and a Technology Innovation Hub. The institute maintains extensive research facilities including library services, computing facilities, and research funding mechanisms. Campus & Infrastructure
The Kolkata campus spans 30 acres on Barrackpore Trunk Road in Baranagore, comprising office and residential complexes separated by a public road. Key buildings include the Main Building, Geology Building, Library Building, Administration Building, and Amrapali. Residential facilities include Boys' Hostel, Ladies Hostel, Research Scholars' and ISEC hostel, Guest House, and staff quarters. The campus is located approximately 14 km from Kolkata airport and is well-connected by rail, road, and air to major cities. Medical services and other support facilities are available on campus.
Admissions & Student Life
The institute conducts admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate programs annually. First-year students across various courses are eligible for internships during summer breaks, typically starting after the second semester examination (around May 10th). The institute maintains hostels and housing facilities for students and research scholars. Campus life includes access to library facilities, computing services, and placement support through a dedicated placement cell.
Placements & Industry Engagement
ISI maintains a placement cell coordinating recruitment activities for students across all centers (Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Tezpur). The institute has an MoU with the Actuarial Society of India, providing students with waivers on six actuarial papers during their courses. Placement processes are structured for both final placements and internship hiring, with dedicated contact points for each center and specialized programs like PGDBA offered in collaboration with IIT and IIM.
