The Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (IPER) is a private, self-financing pharmacy institution in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It is located in Borgaon (Meghe), Wardha, Maharashtra, and is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. The institute's mission is to become a centre of excellence in education, training and research in order to build quality pharmacrats. Its vision is making every student a total quality person and pride of human race.
History
IPER was established in 1982. The institute is managed by the Vidarbha Youth Welfare Society, Amravati, which was founded in 1965 by a group of visionaries of the region, including Late Prof. Ram K. Meghe, Late Surendra B. Deshmukh and Late Prof. Baburao D. Hiwase. The society was set up with the objective of uplifting rural students in academic excellence, particularly in Science and Technology.
Academics
The institute provides education leading to Diploma, Degree, Post Graduate and Ph.D. programmes in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Around 400 students from all corners of India are studying at the institute. Admission routes include B. Pharm first year through the CET Cell CAP, B. Pharm direct second year (lateral entry) based on diploma score, and M. Pharm first year through GPAT and CET Cell CAP.
Campus & Facilities
The campus is stretched over an area of 5 acres. The institute has well-equipped laboratories and a rich library. Listed facilities include a library and reading room, digital library, auditorium, seminar room, museum, computer laboratory, and pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy and pharmacology laboratories.
Recognition
The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), with PCI approval listed for 2025-26. It holds UGC 2f and 12b recognition and ISO 9001:2015 certification, which was valid until 17 May 2024. The institute has been described as one of the Premier Pharmaceutical Institutions in Maharashtra and India.
