ITU offers three doctoral programs (DBA, PhD in Electrical Engineering, PhD in Interdisciplinary Science), multiple master's degrees (MBA, MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information and Cybersecurity, Digital Arts, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Engineering Management), and six certificate programs including Cybersecurity, AI & Machine Learning, and UI/UX. All programs emphasize applied, industry-relevant curriculum with internships integrated from the start. The MBA program in business analytics holds separate ACBSP accreditation since 2017.
The North San Jose campus (2711 North First Street) features a 300-seat lecture hall, gym, yoga studio, research laboratories, and additional classrooms and faculty offices. ITU operates specialized labs in IoT/Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence/Robotics, Green Energy, and Bioelectronics, staffed by faculty and graduate students. The university maintains a joint laboratory with Peking University's School of Software and Microelectronics and serves as a regional SAP training center.
ITU admits graduate students on a rolling basis with separate deadlines for international F-1 seekers, domestic applicants, and SEVIS transfers. The university emphasizes flexible scheduling with night, weekend, and online classes to accommodate working professionals. Students are encouraged to affiliate with local Silicon Valley firms from the beginning of their studies. The student body is highly international and multicultural, with 73% of students participating in internships as a requirement for master's degrees.
ITU was institutionally accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) from February 2013 until accreditation was withdrawn on June 27, 2025, following a 2019 'Show Cause' status due to leadership, financial, and staffing concerns. The MBA program in business analytics maintains separate ACBSP accreditation. In January 2021, ITU settled allegations of student visa fraud for $1.17 million under the False Claims Act.
