Independence Community College offers associate degrees and more than 20 certificate programs in vocational occupations. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and holds occupationally specific accreditation for several programs, including Cosmetology (accredited by Kansas Board of Cosmetology). Programs span Allied Health, Cosmetology, Veterinary Technology, Culinary, and technical fields. The college maintains a main campus and a West Campus location for expanded technical and vocational offerings.
The 68-acre main campus includes an Academic Building, Fine Arts Building, Student Union, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Field House, William Inge Center for the Arts, fitness center, and 431 residential beds across three residence halls. Fab Lab ICC (opened 2014) provides digital fabrication, graphic design, and rapid prototyping tools. Students engage in nine athletic programs, over 100 home games annually, book clubs, open mic nights, the student newspaper (The Buccaneer), and multicultural organizations. The campus features a disc golf course and hosts the four-day William Inge Theatre Festival celebrating the college's famous alumnus playwright.
Independence Community College maintains an open admissions policy with no minimum GPA or test score requirements. The free application takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Applicants must submit identity verification (government ID, passport, or birth certificate), complete the FAFSA (school code 001924), and provide high school or college transcripts.
