A for-profit art school in Schaumburg that operated from 1983 to 2018 as part of The Art Institutes network.
The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg was originally founded in 1916 as The Commercial Art School and became known as Ray-Vogue School in the 1930s. It was renamed Ray College of Design in 1981 and expanded to include the Schaumburg location in 1983. In 1995, the school joined The Art Institutes system of for-profit art colleges. Education Management Corporation (EDMC) owned the institution from 1999 until 2017, when it sold the school to Dream Center Education, a Los Angeles-based Pentecostal organization, amid significant financial difficulties and declining enrollment.
The Schaumburg campus was permanently closed at the end of 2018 as part of Dream Center Education's restructuring of The Art Institutes network. The closure reflected broader challenges facing for-profit art schools, including federal scrutiny and falling student enrollment.
