IIIT Dharwad is located in the educational hub of Hubballi-Dharwad, at IIIT Dharwad Campus, Ittigatti Road, Near Sattur Colony, Dharwad 580009. Its director is Prof. S. R. Mahadeva Prasanna. The institute has its own permanent campus.
History
IIIT Dharwad was established in 2015 as an initiative of the Government of India, the Government of Karnataka and industrial partner KEONICS. It was established under the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (PPP) Act 2017.
Vision and Mission
The institute's vision is to be a globally renowned academy of information technology for societal development. One of its mission goals is to produce globally competent information technology professionals with the right mix of professional skills and ethical, societal and environmental concerns.
Academics and Research
IIIT Dharwad offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D academic programs. It has a Centre of Excellence in Quantum Artificial Intelligence and Computing (QAIC).
Student Achievements
Team ICARUS secured 4th place nationally and a ₹2 Lakh cash prize at the ISRO Robotics Challenge (IRoC-U 2026). Students from the VLSI Club designed SIDHARUD1, a GPIO Extender chip, which was fabricated through Synopsys and GlobalFoundries MPW Shuttle Program. The institute also secured 2nd place and a ₹3 Lakh cash prize at the LEAP Hackathon Hubballi Edition.
