HVCC offers more than 80 academic degree and certificate programs through three schools: Business and Liberal Arts, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), and Health Sciences. Popular programs include Criminal Justice, Business, Liberal Arts, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Nursing, Computer Information Systems, Human Services, and Engineering Science. The college maintains transfer agreements with over 100 four-year institutions, with top transfer destinations including University at Albany, Siena College, The College of Saint Rose, and the Sage Colleges. HVCC also hosts bachelor's degree programs on campus through partnerships, including a B.B.A. in Business Administration from SUNY Cobleskill.
The main campus features a 47.4 million dollar science center (completed 2013) with advanced laboratory equipment including high-performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, confocal microscopes, and DNA sequencers. The Gene F. Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing Skills (14.5 million dollars, opened 2019) supports the Advanced Manufacturing Technology program. The Outdoor Athletic Complex, completed in 2016, includes a turf field and eight-lane track. The Marvin Library Learning Commons provides over 100,000 volumes and access to 30,000+ journal titles. Off-campus facilities include the TEC-SMART center in Malta for semiconductor and renewable energy training.
HVCC competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III and the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference, offering intercollegiate sports for men and women. The college has won national championships in ice hockey (2001), men's cross country (1996), women's bowling (1995, 2010), women's basketball (1993), and women's alpine skiing (1977). The campus features the Maureen Stapleton Theatre (350 seats), a teaching gallery, and sculptures by noted American artist Antoni Milkowski. Student government is led by an elected Student Senate of approximately 25 members overseeing 50+ clubs and activities.
