Hocking College offers more than 50 associate degree and certificate programs organized within seven academic areas: Allied Health, Arts/Business/Science, Engineering and Information Technology, Hospitality, Natural Resources, Nursing, and Public Safety Services. The college emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning with flexible, affordable programming designed for both traditional and non-traditional students. In 2018, the college became one of two licensed cannabis testing laboratories in Ohio, with a medical and chemical laboratory in downtown Nelsonville that supports coursework in Laboratory Sciences.
The college operates on a 2,300-acre rural campus in Nelsonville with 20 buildings and is uniquely the only two-year college in Ohio offering college-owned on-campus housing. Residence halls opened in 1975, creating an immersive residential learning community. The college also owns Lake Snowden, a 670-acre recreation area, and 1,400 acres of open-space land in York Township. Athletic teams compete as the Hawks in the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) and OCCAC conference.
