Hillsborough College is a public community college founded in 1968 in Florida's State College System, serving the Tampa Bay region.
Hillsborough College (HC) was founded in 1968 and is the fifth largest community college in Florida's State College System. The college serves more than 47,000 students each year at its five campuses, three satellite locations and online platform. Its mission is to transform lives by providing open access to an exceptional teaching and learning environment that inspires students to contribute to the local community and global society. The college plays a role in strengthening the educational, economic and social fabric of the Tampa Bay region.
HC offers more than 200 academic pathways, including a Bachelor of Science in nursing and associate in arts and associate in science degrees. The college is accredited by SACSCOC to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Through its associate in arts programs, it is the largest state college feeder to the University of South Florida. HC also offers developmental education and English as a Second Language for students not yet prepared for college-level work.
The Hillsborough College District includes five campuses, each with a unique identity reflective of the communities it serves, in addition to three academic centers. HC offers student housing at the Hawks Landing apartment complex and provides childcare on two of its campuses. Facilities include computer labs, an Academic Innovation Lab, a library and an Academic Success Center.
Admission routes include the General Application for associate's degree, certificate, or non-degree/transient credit classes, and Dual Enrollment. International students may apply for degree-seeking study on an F-1 visa, and Public Safety Academy Programs include the Law Academy and Fire Academy. Placement testing in reading, writing, and math is available.
The college has an annual budget of over $161 million and more than 2,100 employees. HC and its alumni contribute more than $1.HC is the primary feeder for recent graduates of the School District of Hillsborough County, and over 84 percent of graduates stay in the local community.
