About
Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK) was founded in 2001 by KBT to create a centre of academic excellence in Eastern India. It is a self-financing institution and an Autonomous Institution affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. The institute's tagline states that learning is an interactive evolutionary process.
Academics
The institute offers degree-awarding departments including Computer Applications, Management Studies, and Information Technology, among others. Programmes offered include B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, BBA, BCA and MBA. The second industry-supported lab for Embedded Systems in the department was set up after the IIoT lab.
Recognition
The institute is accredited with an 'A' Grade by NAAC with effect from 12/07/2022 and is recognised by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), dated 31-01-2020. It was ranked No. 1 Private Engineering College in West Bengal and received the 'Most Preferred Engineering Institute of the Year-2020 (East)' award. It was also awarded the Best Internship Record - East Zone on August 25, 2018.

Library facilities include a Central Library, Digital Library, Departmental Libraries, Library Wi-Fi, and Web-OPAC. The Mechanical Engineering department produced a student project on '3D Printed Artificial Beehive'.
Student Achievements
Ms. Sayantika Ghosh, a 4th year B.Tech (Bio-Technology) student, ranked 1st in the All India Rank in GATE 2019. Swetank Modi's team won #HackWithInfy India 2018 from the institute. The Rotaract Club of the institute was felicitated with 11 awards at the District Conference 2020.
