Helena College offers Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), and Associate of Science in Registered Nursing (ASRN) degrees, along with Certificates of Applied Science (CAS). Programs span arts and humanities, business and accounting, computer science, education, engineering and mathematics, health sciences, industry and trades, law and public safety, sciences, and social sciences. Many associate degrees include Transfer Pathways (T) or Transfer Articulation Partnerships within the Montana University System, facilitating student progression to four-year institutions.
The college operates two main campuses: the Donaldson Campus at 1115 North Roberts Street and the Airport Campus at 2300 Airport Road, both in Helena. A 2007 expansion added a new library, lecture hall, science labs, student services facilities, and a multi-purpose room. The Airport Campus includes facilities for automotive technology, machine tool, and welding programs. The college also operates a salon providing cosmetology services and maintains a library learning hub and testing center.
Helena College accepts first-time students, transfer students, and returning students. First-time applicants must submit proof of MMR immunizations, an official high school transcript with graduation date (or HiSET/GED scores), and complete a new student application. Transfer students follow similar requirements and may have credits evaluated for transfer from regionally accredited institutions. The college reviews transfer credits from institutions accredited by major regional accrediting bodies and maintains transfer equivalency guides.
The college provides comprehensive career services including job listings, career exploration, internship searches, resume and interview assistance, and occupational trend information. Students have access to the Handshake platform for job and internship opportunities, academic advising, tutoring, accessibility services, financial aid, and veteran benefits. The college also offers TRIO and other educational opportunity programs to support student success.
