Academics
Guru Nanak College operates through six schools offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. The curriculum emphasizes character formation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and skill development alongside academic excellence. The institution offers more than 82 skill-based courses in partnership with industry leaders including NASSCOM, CISCO, Infosys Springboard, and ICT Academy. Three academic streams operate: Government Aided Stream (8:00 AM–1:00 PM), Self-Financing Stream I (8:00 AM–1:00 PM), and Self-Financing Stream II (1:10 PM–6:10 PM).
Campus & Infrastructure
The college occupies a lush green 25-acre campus in Velachery, South Chennai, strategically located between Raj Bhavan and IIT-Madras. Two major academic blocks have been constructed: Guru Harkrishan Block (56,000 sq. ft, ground + 3 floors, 2015) and Guru Amar Das Block (52,000 sq. ft with 24 classrooms and Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Auditorium with 873-seat capacity, inaugurated 2018). The campus includes a Gurudwara, research centers, media facilities, and skill development infrastructure.
Admissions
Admissions for 2026-27 are open across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Eligibility requires passing Higher Secondary Examination (Standard XII, 10+2 pattern) or equivalent. Applicants must meet program-specific subject requirements. The college operates merit-based admission with online application procedures. Foreign students require a regular, long-term student visa from the Indian Embassy.
Accreditation & Recognition
The college holds NAAC A++ accreditation (third cycle, 2022) with a CGPA of 3.68. It received autonomous status from UGC in 2015 and is affiliated with the University of Madras. The institution is approved by AICTE and recognized as a Sikh minority institution. The main road in Velachery has been renamed 'Guru Nanak Salai' by the Corporation of Chennai in recognition of the college's contributions.
