Medical Services & Specialties
GCRI offers comprehensive cancer care across multiple specialties including surgical oncology (head & neck, breast, thorax, GI, HPB), medical & pediatric oncology, radiation oncology, gynecological oncology, neuro-oncology, and palliative medicine. The institute provides diagnostic services through radio-diagnosis, nuclear medicine, pathology, and microbiology. Additional allied services include bone marrow transplantation, physiotherapy, prosthesis, stoma clinic, speech therapy, and home hospice care.
Infrastructure & Technology
The new campus features 590 beds with plans to expand to 1,000 beds, centrally air-conditioned facilities with GRIHA green rating, and 4 modular plus 15 new operation theatres equipped with state-of-the-art surgical technology. Diagnostic capabilities include two 6MV Elekta linear accelerators, one dual-energy high-end linear accelerator, Varian 6MV linear accelerator, cobalt machine, HDR brachytherapy units, Cyberknife, Tomotherapy, 3T MRI, PET scan, and spiral CT. The hospital features pneumatic tube transport systems and is equipped for 2DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SRT, and SRS radiotherapy techniques.
Research & Education
GCRI maintains a dedicated Cancer Biology research wing with 6 well-equipped laboratories conducting basic and clinical research on preventive aspects and cancer biology. Research projects are approved by national and international agencies including NCI, IARC, DST, DBT, CSIR, ICMR, and DAE. The institute has published over 500 research papers and operates a fully automated library with digital resources, online databases (UpToDate, OVID, Clinical Key), and institutional repository for thesis, dissertations, and publications.
Accreditation & Quality
GCRI is NABH certified with accredited Ethics Committee. The laboratory medicine department holds NABL accreditation (ISO-15189:2022) ensuring total quality management. The institute is recognized as a Regional Cancer Centre under the Government of India's National Cancer Control Programme and receives central government assistance.
