Government Science College offers undergraduate B.Sc. programs in three streams: (1) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (grant-in-aid, 180 seats); (2) Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science (non-grant, 180 seats); and (3) Chemistry, Botany, Zoology (grant-in-aid, 360 seats). Postgraduate M.Sc. programs in Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology (non-grant, 44 seats each, 2-year duration) began in 2012. All courses follow Gondwana University's Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with semester pattern. The college emphasizes formative and summative assessments, with 80:20 weightage for semester-end and internal examinations respectively.
The college provides well-equipped laboratories, LAN-WiFi connectivity across campus, and a library containing over 21,000 books. Learning management systems including Piazza and MOODLE support online education. The institution focuses on creating a safe, inclusive learning environment with ICT-enabled teaching alongside traditional classroom instruction. Physical infrastructure supports both undergraduate practical work and postgraduate research activities.
Admissions are merit-based and conducted in accordance with Gondwana University regulations. Applicants must submit original and photocopied documents including 10th/12th marksheets, transfer certificates, migration certificates, Aadhar cards, and caste certificates (if applicable). Minimum 75% attendance in all subjects is required to appear in end-semester examinations. Anti-ragging measures are strictly enforced with a dedicated Anti-Ragging Squad on duty day and night.
The college assists students in accessing scholarships from state and central government schemes through portals including National Scholarship Portal and Maharashtra State Scholarship Portal (MahaDBT). Academic advisors are assigned to each student to guide degree completion pathways. Counselling, motivation, and cooperative learning support are provided through feedback mechanisms and learning management systems.
