Gordon-Conwell offers graduate theological education through Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theology (Th.M.), Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), and five specialized master's degrees including counseling programs. The seminary is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada since 1964 and by the New England Commission of Higher Education since 1985. Its counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. The institution serves students from over 90 denominations and 40 countries worldwide.
The main 118-acre residential campus is located in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. The Boston campus (Center for Urban Ministerial Education/CUME) in Roxbury offers part-time night and weekend classes focused on urban and cross-cultural ministry. The Charlotte campus, founded in 1992, provides weekend and evening courses plus intensive week-long programs. The Jacksonville location, opened in 2006, serves as an extension for the Networked Education program. Gordon-Conwell provides student housing through its Life Together initiative and maintains a library system, writing center, and career services.

Gordon-Conwell was established in 1969 through the merger of Gordon Divinity School (founded 1888) and Conwell School of Theology (founded 1889), with support from evangelist Billy Graham and financier J. Howard Pew. The seminary was founded with no specific denominational affiliation, emphasizing Protestant evangelical theology. Current president Scott W. Sunquist, an alumnus and former dean at Fuller Theological Seminary, has led the institution since July 2019.
