About
Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is a private institute located at NH-37, Hatkhowapara, Azara, Guwahati-781017, Assam. It was founded on 7 September 2006 under the patronage of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society. The institute was the first non-governmental engineering institute in Assam.
History
The first session commenced on 13 July 2006 with 240 students in four disciplines. Assam Science and Technology University was established by the Government of Assam to bring engineering colleges under one umbrella. The institute has been affiliated to this university since August 2013.
Academics
The institute offers UG and PG programmes, according to its Secretary's message. Its MBA in Business Administration was introduced in 2008, and its MCA in Computer Application commenced in 2009. It holds AICTE approval for M.Tech programmes in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, and Thermal and Fluid Engineering. Admissions are available for B.Tech, MBA, MCA and BCA programmes.
Campus & Facilities
Campus facilities include a Girls Hostel, a Boys Hostel, the Bina Chowdhury Central Library, and laboratories.
Recognition
Five engineering programmes (B.Tech in AEI, CSE, ME, EE and ECE) were provisionally accredited by the National Board of Accreditation in 2016. In 2019, the B.2022. The institute is recognised in the PROMISING band in the ARIIA 2021 ranking.
