Gibbs Junior College is a junior college institution in St. Petersburg, established in 1957. Gibbs Junior College was a historically black junior college established in 1957 in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of an effort to avoid racial integration. It became the first and most successful of Florida's eleven new African-American junior colleges before closing in 1967.
