The college was established in 1986, and its construction work started in 1994 at a total project cost of Rs. The college has operated since its inception in 1986.
Academics
The Dental Council of India has recognised the college's Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course. The college is affiliated to the University of Kashmir, which granted affiliation for an increase in BDS intake from 20 to 50. BDS admission is through BOPEE. The college planned to start postgraduate (M.D.S.) programmes in eight disciplines for Academic Session 2014-15: Prosthodontics, Pedodontics, Orthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Public Health Dentistry, Oral Medicine & Radiology and Periodontology. Departments including Prosthodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontology, Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry are equipped with state of the art modern equipment and patient-simulation systems.
Campus & Facilities
The campus comprises six blocks, including a Registration Block, Ancillary Block, Canteen/Recreation block, two water sumps and a Multilevel Parking Block. The girls hostel at Shereen Bagh is a four-storied building accommodating about 148 students, and the boys hostel at Bemina is an L-shaped four-storied block accommodating about 150 students. The library is equipped with internet facilities for students and faculty, subscribes to several national and international journals, and is interconnected with leading libraries such as the British Council library and other medical institutions.
