Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences (GAIMS) is located at G. K. General Hospital in Bhuj, Kachchh, Gujarat, with postal code 370001. It is the first public-private partnership endeavour between the Government of Gujarat and Adani Education & Research Foundation. The entire campus spreads over a total of 27 acres in the middle of Bhuj City.
History
The high tech medical college was established in Bhuj under the PPP model since 2009. In 2009 the Government of Gujarat passed a Special Government Resolution to hand over G. K. General Hospital, Bhuj to GAIMS for 99 years. GAIMS received Letter of Permission from the Central Government to start a medical college with an intake of 150 from the academic year 2009-10. In 2013 an agreement was executed between the Government of Gujarat and GAIMS for handing over the hospital on a 99-year lease.
Academics
In affiliation with Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma (KSKV) Kachchh University, GAIMS is recognized by the National Medical Commission for the MBBS course with an annual intake of 150 seats. GAIMS is also permitted or recognized by the National Medical Commission for 17 different MD/MS postgraduate courses with a total annual intake of 102 seats in various specialties. MBBS admission is available through Government and Management Quota via ACPU/PGMC.
Campus & Facilities
G. K. General Hospital is the attached teaching hospital and the only Multi-Specialty Modern Teaching District Hospital in Kachchh district. The hospital has more than 806 beds and 14 Operation Theatres, along with various Intensive Care Units. Listed facilities include NABH accredited hospital services, a Blood Centre, an NABL accredited laboratory, and a SUYOG Medical Skill Simulation Lab.
Mission
GAIMS aims to establish centres of excellence that impart quality medical education, deliver clinical services and conduct data-based research to improve population health metrics. Its mission includes producing skilled medical professionals to bridge the demand-supply gap within the nation. It also aims to provide quality clinical care with a social commitment to improve the health metrics of society.
