G. B. Pant Institute of Technology is a public institute of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi, located in the Okhla Industrial Estate, Okhla Phase III, New Delhi-110020, near Nehru Place in South Delhi. It is named after Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, a renowned freedom fighter and an able administrator. The institute aims to empower students through holistic, transformative and innovative education that equips them with skills and motivates them to advance their careers.
History
The institute was established in 1961 as G. B. Pant Polytechnic, starting with three engineering diploma courses (three years duration) in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering. A diploma course in Automobile Engineering was added in 1966, and a diploma course in Production Engineering followed in 1979. In 1972, a part-time evening diploma course of four years duration was introduced in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering.
