Fletcher offers both academic and technical training through associate degree and technical diploma programs. The college provides over 30 programs across five main areas: Nursing & Allied Health (including RN, LPN, surgical technology, radiologic technology, and respiratory therapy); Energy & Advanced Technologies (welding, electrician, HVAC, automotive, aviation maintenance, marine diesel); Business, Education, Arts, Math & Science (accounting, business administration, computer information systems, criminal justice, general studies); Adult Education (HiSET prep, ESL, tutoring); and Maritime & Safety Training. Industry-based certifications and workforce training programs are also available with continuous enrollment.
Fletcher maintains an open-admissions policy. Any person age 16 or older may be admitted if they complete an application, provide proof of selective service registration, and meet immunization requirements. Persons under 16 must provide proof of high school graduation or GED/HiSET. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for admission to Nursing and Allied Health programs. The main campus is located at 1407 Highway 311 in Schriever, Louisiana. Additional facilities include the Thibodaux campus (1425 Tiger Drive), Maritime & Safety Training facility in Houma (331 Dickson Road), and the Houma EQUITY facility. The college offers student services including advising, tutoring, career services, job placement assistance, library resources, scholarships, and veteran services. Student organizations and activities are available, along with accommodations for students with disabilities.
Originally established as South Louisiana Trade School by Legislative Act 69 in 1948, the college opened classes in July 1951 with 883 trainees in its first year. The name evolved through several iterations—South Louisiana Vocational-Technical School (1977), South Louisiana Regional Technical Institute (1990), Louisiana Technical College South Louisiana Campus (1995)—before becoming Louisiana Technical College L. E. Fletcher Campus in 1999 to honor a former director. The college is dedicated to offering high-quality technical and academic programs to South Louisiana and beyond, providing pathways to higher education, workforce development, lifelong learning, and personal enrichment.
