Five Towns College offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees through eight academic divisions: music performance, theatre arts, mass communications, film and television, business management, liberal arts, interactive media arts, and music teacher education. The college was the first in New York State to offer programs in jazz, commercial music, audio recording technology, and music business. All programs are registered with the New York State Education Department and the college holds institutional accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, plus programmatic accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Approximately one-third of students live on-campus in the Living/Learning Center, a complex of four residence halls with private bathrooms, a student center, and music practice rooms. The campus features the John Lennon Center for Music and Technology with sound recording studios, a film sound stage, interactive computer graphics lab, and student-run radio station WFTU (1570 AM). The Five Towns College Performing Arts Center seats 486 and includes a smaller performance studio, costume shop, and set design workshop. The college offers counseling, academic advising, tutoring, and accommodations through its Student Success Center, and is the only institution on Long Island offering the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).
The Five Towns College Sound competes as a full member of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The college offers men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, and cross country, plus esports competition. The mascot is Fader the Seagull. The college annually hosts the Long Island Media Arts Show and operates an FCC-licensed radio station.
The college offers Early Action and Regular Decision pathways for undergraduate admission. Graduate admissions are also available. The college provides support for transfer students, international students, and veterans. A Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) serves academically and economically disadvantaged students designated by the New York State Education Department. High school dual enrollment and pre-college summer programs are available.
