Governance body representing faculty across SUNY's 30 community colleges.
The Faculty Council of Community Colleges (FCCC) is the official governance body through which State University of New York community college faculty participate in university governance. Established in 1967, the FCCC originally represented all New York community colleges but was restructured in 1975 when CUNY and SUNY were legislatively separated. Today it represents faculty at SUNY's 30 community colleges.
The FCCC studies and advises on academic concerns, policies, and programs; formulates faculty positions on policy matters for transmission to college presidents and trustees; serves in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor; provides a forum for discussing matters of common interest; facilitates interchange of ideas among community college faculties; and maintains communication channels between university administration and local governing boards. It also collaborates with the University Faculty Senate on matters of common concern.
Voting membership includes one faculty delegate from each of the 30 community colleges, the Vice Chancellor for Community Colleges, the Associate Provost for Community Colleges, and the President and immediate Past President of the FCCC. Each college designates an alternate delegate. The FCCC holds plenary meetings twice annually—once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester—with member colleges volunteering to host.
