Evangeline Booth College operates as a specialized theological training institution focused on preparing Salvation Army officers. Upon completion and receipt of a diploma, cadets are commissioned as Salvation Army officers with the rank of lieutenant.

Candidates must be Christians who adopt the eleven doctrines of The Salvation Army and commit to dedicating their career to the organization. Applicants must be debt-free (no mortgages, vehicle loans, student loans, or private debts). Students are required to wear the uniform prescribed by The Salvation Army and complete all coursework, field assignments, and mission trips as part of their formation.
The college aims to develop officers with a 'blood and fire spirit' to sustain and advance The Salvation Army's mission. Graduates serve as commissioned officers in the Salvation Army's Southern Territory and beyond, with over 500 officers currently serving nationally. The institution also houses the Salvation Army Southern Territory Historical Center.
