Ethnos Canada is a Christian mission organization based in Durham, Ontario, focused on reaching people without access to the gospel.
Ethnos Canada helps local churches mobilize, equip and coordinate missionaries to people who have no access to the gospel. Its contact address is 313363 Hwy 6 S, PO Box 707, Durham, ON N0G 1R0, Canada. The organization states that it is the church's responsibility to glorify Christ by preaching the gospel to the whole world and making disciples of all nations. It holds that a soul once saved can never be lost, and practices believer's baptism by immersion.
Ethnos Canada was founded in 1942 as New Tribes Mission (NTM), when Paul Fleming and five others established the mission with no funds or organization behind them. The first NTM conference in Canada was held in Toronto on June 8-15, 1947. New Tribes Mission (Canada) was incorporated in Vancouver in May, 1951. On September 11, 1967, a 70 acre property just south of the town of Durham was purchased, and an additional 30 acres adjoining it was bought in 1987. In 2017, NTM USA, NTM Canada and NTM New Zealand changed their names to Ethnos360, Ethnos Canada and Ethnos NZ respectively.
From the start, the organization's purpose has been twofold: to train and equip believers to be involved in planting indigenous churches, and, once training is finished, to support and assist them by providing leadership, encouragement and business administration. Training programs in more than a dozen countries prepare missionaries for service among the thousands of people groups who have yet to hear. Ethnos360 Bible Institute or equivalent training or experience is a prerequisite for missionary training. Today more than 2,000 missionaries serve throughout the world.
The Durham property is located just south of the town of Durham, Ontario. In August 2003, classes began in the new Canadian Language Institute, and on May 29, 2004, the first class of 16 students graduated.
