A public vocational training school in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, offering professional programs in the Haut-Richelieu region.
The École professionnelle des Métiers is the only public educational institution offering professional training in the Haut-Richelieu region. Its mission is to offer quality vocational training, act as a partner in regional economic development, and collaborate with internal and external partners. The school aims to help students become competent, motivated, autonomous and accomplished individuals.
The school's tradition dates back to 1947, when the École des Arts et Métiers de Saint-Jean opened at the corner of Saint-Jacques and Champlain streets. The current school building was inaugurated in 1951 at the corner of Laurier and Frontenac streets, following a land exchange with the Canadian government. In 2013, the professional training sector of the Polyvalente Chanoine Armand-Racicot was integrated into the EPM.
The school offers training in 10 fields of activity, with more than 17 diploma programs leading to a DEP (diplôme d'études professionnelles) and two specialization programs leading to an ASP (attestation de spécialisation professionnelle). Programs are offered across its two buildings. The graduation rate for students in their final year has varied between 70 and 80% over the last three years.
The school operates from two buildings in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu: Édifice Laurier, at 100, rue Laurier, and Édifice Normandie, at 940, boulevard Normandie. The school employs about 68 teachers, along with 15 support staff and 4 professionals, in 2023-2024. Around 600 students are enrolled each year.
