It has been in operation since 1965 and is a public institution that is part of the Centre de services scolaire de la Capitale. The school welcomes more than 450 students each year. It has acquired international renown in its training sector.
The school's mission is to provide quality training aimed at qualifying and integrating the next generation into the labour market. Its vision is to remain a model of excellence and the reference in its training fields, through its spirit of innovation. The school's 2023-2027 educational project was presented by its management team.
The school offers 9 programs leading to a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) or an Attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP). Six of the nine programs have a 'supra régional' character, meaning they must meet labour needs of several regions.
The school is located in the lower town of Quebec City, near the city's tourist core, at 7, rue Robert-Rumilly. Its Cataraqui teaching facilities are located in Sillery. The school supervises pedagogical restaurants, the Salle à manger Jacques-Boisdon and the Domaine Cataraqui, as well as sales counters and butcher counters open to the public.
Admission routes include a written interview and mandatory meeting for DEP programs, quota-based admission for bakery and sommellerie programs, and admission to ASP programs. Recognition of prior learning and competencies (RAC) is also available.
