Dutchess Community College offers over 60 academic programs organized into nine departments: Allied Health and Biological Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Business/Aviation/Construction, English and Humanities, History/Government/Economics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Nursing, Performing/Visual Arts/Communications, and Physical Sciences/Engineering/Technology. The majority of programs lead to associate degrees or certificates. Academic support services include tutoring, writing centers, disability accommodations, and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). The college also provides workforce development, High School Equivalency (TASC) preparation, ESL classes, and early admission programs for local high school students.
The main Poughkeepsie campus spans 130 acres with eleven buildings including Bowne Hall (administration), Hudson Hall (library), Dutchess Hall (theater and bookstore), Falcon Hall (gymnasium and fitness center), and Conklin Hall (the only on-campus residence with 467 beds). The college operates a satellite center in Fishkill (opened Fall 2021) with 20 classrooms, biology lab, and the Center of Excellence for Industry and Innovation featuring a Mechatronics lab. An Aviation Education Center at Hudson Valley Regional Airport opened in June 2021 and houses a Grumman G3-C20 jet.
The Department of Student Services oversees health services, student activities, intercollegiate athletics, admissions, and counseling. Men's sports include soccer, basketball, and baseball; women's sports include volleyball, softball, basketball, and soccer (added fall 2017). The college competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III and the Mid-Hudson Athletic Conference. The mascot is Falco, and school colors are blue and buff.
Alumni include actor and director Bill Duke, U.S. Representative Marc Molinaro (2023–2025), and Louisiana State University's Dean of Agriculture Matthew Lee. Since 1957, DCC has awarded degrees and certificates to over 30,000 graduates. The majority of alumni remain in the Hudson Valley region as civic and community leaders. In October 2023, First Lady Jill Biden toured the Fishkill Mechatronics lab.
