History
DMCH was established in 1946 and initially started as a private institution. It was later taken over by the Government of Bihar and became a government-run medical college. The medical college was constructed with the efforts of King Rameshwar Singh of the Khandavala Dynasty, and his family donated 300 acres of land in the middle of the twin city of Darbhanga-Laheriasarai. In 1946, his son Kameshwar Singh upgraded the institution and renamed it Darbhanga Medical College.
