DTS offers comprehensive theological education covering all 66 books of the Bible with integrated spiritual formation. The seminary provides 18+ degree programs including Master of Theology (Th.M.), Master of Arts in various specializations (Counseling, Christian Leadership, Media Arts, etc.), Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and Doctor of Education (EdD). Programs are available in multiple formats: in-person on campus, fully online, hybrid, and intensive formats. DTS pioneered one of the first four-year Master of Theology programs and launched its Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) program in 1927.
DTS is widely recognized as a center of modern dispensational teaching, grounded in Lewis Sperry Chafer's eight-volume Systematic Theology (1948). The seminary upholds beliefs in premillennialism, dispensationalism, and biblical inerrancy while maintaining a non-denominational Protestant identity. All degree programs emphasize expository Bible teaching and the study of Scripture in original languages. The seminary publishes Bibliotheca Sacra, one of the oldest continuously published theological journals in the United States, since 1934.
The main campus is located at 3909 Swiss Avenue in Dallas, Texas. DTS operates additional campuses in Houston and Washington, D.C., with extension sites in Atlanta, Austin, San Antonio, Nashville, Northwest Arkansas, Europe, and Guatemala. The seminary also offers a multilingual online education program with courses in Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic, serving students from over 100 countries. Student housing and comprehensive student services are available on the Dallas campus.
DTS welcomes domestic and international students with flexible admission pathways. The seminary provides over $8 million in annual student aid through more than 150 scholarships and discounts, with 90% of students graduating without additional educational debt. Th.M. students receive their final 24 credits tuition-free. International students receive dedicated support and can pursue programs in multiple languages. The admissions team offers virtual information sessions, campus preview days, and individual visit scheduling.
DTS has produced influential evangelical leaders including Chuck Swindoll, David Jeremiah, Andy Stanley, Tony Evans, and Robert Jeffress. As of 2014, the seminary reported over 15,000 alumni serving in ministerial roles across 97 countries. A 2009 LifeWay Research study found three DTS alumni among the top ten most influential Protestant preachers. The seminary's graduates have founded major ministries, churches, and educational institutions, significantly shaping American evangelicalism.
