Covenant Theological Seminary offers multiple graduate degrees including the Master of Divinity (99 credit hours), Master of Arts in Counseling (75 credit hours, CACREP-accredited), Master of Arts in Biblical & Theological Studies (66 credit hours), Master of Arts in Ministry (54 credit hours), Master of Arts in Theological Studies (54 credit hours), Doctor of Ministry (30 credit hours), and Master of Theology (24 credit hours). The seminary is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. Curriculum emphasizes biblical faithfulness, spiritual formation, pastoral excellence, and cultural engagement, with faculty who contributed significantly to the ESV Study Bible.
The seminary's suburban campus is located in Creve Coeur, Missouri, at the intersection of two major interstates, providing convenient access to downtown St. Louis (20 minutes), Forest Park, and the airport (15 minutes). The St. Louis metro area offers extensive ministry training opportunities, including the highest concentration of Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) churches of any U.S. city. Students have access to housing on campus, a library, student portal, and various ministry internship sites throughout the region. The seminary emphasizes community and spiritual formation as central to the student experience.
Programs are offered in residential, online, hybrid, and modular formats. The Master of Divinity is the flagship degree for pastoral training, requiring study of Greek and Hebrew, Bible courses, systematic theology, and ministry leadership. The Master of Arts in Counseling prepares clinically trained, biblically grounded counselors. Graduate certificates are available for lay leaders. The seminary also hosts the Francis Schaeffer Institute, which encourages Christians to engage contemporary culture with gospel truth-claims.
The seminary does not require all students to be PCA members but expects commitment to Reformed theology and the Westminster Standards. Alumni serve as pastors, church planters, missionaries, campus ministers, counselors, Bible translators, and educators across all 50 U.S. states and 100+ countries. More than 4,500 Covenant Seminary graduates are in active ministry. The seminary maintains strong connections with local churches and counseling agencies for internship placements.
