Defunct Islamic university in Virginia that trained Muslim military chaplains.
Cordoba University was an Islamic university formerly located in Ashburn, Virginia. The institution consisted of two main components: the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences (GSISS) and Cordoba School of Professional Studies. GSISS operated as part of a United States Department of Defense program dedicated to training Muslim military chaplains, and notably produced the United States Marine Corps' first Muslim chaplain.
GSISS maintained affiliate membership status with the Washington Theological Consortium, a regional association of theological and religious educational institutions in the Washington, D.C. area.
