About
Coorg Institute of Technology (CIT) was established in 1999 and is sponsored by the Kodava Education Society. Its primary aim is to provide quality technical education to students from Kodagu district and other parts of the country. The college is located at Post Box No. 11, Ponnampet, Kodagu District, Karnataka – 571 216. Its vision is empowering the engineers of tomorrow by encouraging and providing quality education with social and ethical values.
Academics
CIT is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, and is recognized by the Government of Karnataka. It offers Bachelor of Engineering courses in CS, MECH, EC, CIVIL, AI&ML, AI&DS and CS-CY. The Electronics & Communication Engineering department was established in 1999, and the Mechanical Engineering department was started in 2010. The institute has implemented outcome-based education (OBE). Its mission also includes providing professional skillsets through training and value-added courses to meet industry demand.
Campus & Facilities
The campus is spread over 31 acres and is enabled with WiFi throughout. The computer centre has as many as 50 computers with Internet facility. A seminar hall with a minimum seating capacity of 250 is located on the third floor of the main building. Listed facilities include a Central Library, a Digital Library, a DSpace Digital Repository, a Physical Education and Sports Department, and Main and Mini Seminar Halls. The college also provides transportation for all students with a fleet of buses and vans.
Admissions
CIT admits students through several routes: management quota, merit-based admission (with branch preference and seat allotment), CET for the government quota, direct entry to first-year BE, and lateral entry for diploma students.
