TAV College is a private, subsidized college in Montreal, Quebec, offering pre-university and technical programs.
TAV College is a private, subsidized college located in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The college's address is 6333 Decarie Boulevard, Montreal, Quebec, H3W 3E1. The college offers pre-university and technical programs of study to a proudly multicultural student population.
TAV was originally founded in 1989 as TAT (Torah and Technology School of Montreal) to provide the Chassidic Montreal-Jewish community with secular education and training, which would lead to more job opportunities in Quebec society. Near the end of 2010, the school changed its name to TAV (Technology and Vocational college), received approval for independent status, and became a private college recognized and accredited for subsidies from the Quebec Ministry of Education. In 2013, the college built a six-story, 65,000 square-foot building, commonly called the A building.
The college's goal is to help individuals realize their full potential, academically and personally, while respecting their cultural and ethnic diversity. Its vision is to train students to become competent, responsible, and well-integrated into Quebec society. TAV emphasizes excellence in teaching and academic standards and encourages interaction between faculty and students through smaller, more focused classrooms. Through its sister-college, College Decarie, it offers courses in both French and English.
A new 65,000 square foot building, annexed to the original Decarie Boulevard campus, houses biology, chemistry, physics, and 3D printing laboratories. A second campus building opened in August 2021 at 6005 Decarie Boulevard, approximately 150 meters from the original campus. Listed facilities include a production studio, sound studio, private gym and fitness center, cafeteria, study hall, study rooms, and a student lounge.
