College of St. Joseph offered more than 20 undergraduate degree programs in arts & sciences, business, criminal justice, and psychology & human services, including a social media certificate program introduced in 2014. Graduate programs included master's degrees in business, education, and psychology & human services. The college also established the Traumatology Institute in January 2018, providing advanced education and training for emergency responders and mental health professionals, with full accreditation from the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology.
The main campus featured St. Joseph Hall (administrative and academic hub), Tuttle Hall (student services and 200-seat theater), and an Athletic Center with a 1,000-seat gymnasium, weight room, racquetball court, and dance studio. Two undergraduate dormitories, Roncalli Hall and Medaille Hall, were built in 1967. In 2008, the college acquired the 27-acre Clementwood estate, which included a mansion built in 1863 and was repurposed for administrative offices. Athletic teams, the Fighting Saints, competed in USCAA Division II and NAIA, fielding nine varsity sports including baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
College of St. Joseph operated from 1956 to 2019 as a private Catholic institution affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The college was accredited by NECHE but faced significant financial challenges, spending nearly all of its $3.1 million endowment. In August 2018, NECHE placed the college on probation; by April 2019, the college was unable to demonstrate financial viability and ceased operations at the end of the spring 2019 semester.
