CPTC offers diverse career-focused programs including certificates, Associate of Applied Technology (AAT) degrees, and Bachelor of Applied Science degrees. Academic areas span Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing, Health Sciences & Human Services, Business & Hospitality, Science/Technology/Engineering, and Transportation & Trades. The college launched its first applied baccalaureate program in fall 2014 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Manufacturing Operations. Programs are available in traditional, evening, weekend, and online formats.
The main Lakewood campus occupies a converted WWII navy supply base and features modern, pedestrian-oriented facilities including specialized labs for manufacturing, health sciences, and technology. The South Hill campus in Puyallup at Thun Field focuses on aviation programs with direct runway access. An Eastside Training Center in Tacoma serves underserved communities. Student resources include a library, tutoring center, computer labs, fitness center, food pantry, and childcare at Hayes Child Development Center.
CPTC is an open-enrollment, non-competitive college with no application fees or deadlines for general enrollment. Students apply online and can enroll any quarter. The Welcome Center offers weekly group intake sessions and individual advising. Special pathways include Running Start for high school students, transfer admission, and international student programs. Placement testing via direct self-placement is available for math and English. Veterans, workforce development, and financial aid support are provided.
The college operates Northwest Career & Technical High School, allowing high school students to earn diplomas while completing technical certificates or degrees. Student life includes clubs, organizations, student employment, and emergency services. Community services include an auto shop, Bon Sucre Bistro, cosmetology and esthetics salons, and corporate training. The college operates KVTI, a 50,000-watt student radio station, and CollegeVision educational cable channel.
