A Christian university in Cincinnati that closed in 2019 after 95 years of operation.
Cincinnati Christian University was structured into five schools: Biblical Studies, Arts, and Sciences; Ministry; Education and Behavioral Sciences; Business; and Adult Learning. The university offered bachelor's and master's degrees and was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. CCU was a member of the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges and Universities, providing students access to cross-registration and library resources. The university offered a Master of Arts in Counseling program approved by the Ohio Counseling and Social Worker Board and was a member of the Association of Schools of Jerusalem University College.
The main campus was located in Cincinnati's western neighborhoods, a few miles west of downtown. CCU also offered classes at extension sites in Sharonville, Ohio, and Indianapolis, with additional offerings in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and the Greater Louisville area (though these ceased at an unknown time). Beginning in 2018, CCU partnered with Point University to offer approximately 30 degree programs online. The university's athletic teams, the Eagles, competed in 17 intercollegiate varsity sports across men's, women's, and co-ed categories.
In July 2019, Cincinnati Christian University was placed on 'show-cause' status by the Higher Learning Commission due to alleged conflicts of interest involving the university president. On October 28, 2019, the board of trustees announced the decision to shut down all degree programs at the conclusion of the fall 2019 semester and withdrew from the HLC, ending the university's 95-year history.
