Charter College offers 28 certificate, associate, and bachelor's degree programs focused on career preparation in healthcare, business, information technology, veterinary science, and skilled trades. The college emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning with clinical practicums and externships required for many programs. Since 2012, the college has offered blended and fully online learning options, with all programs including some online component by 2014. Specialized programs include Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, and various certificate programs in medical assisting, dental assisting, pharmacy technician, and veterinary assistant roles.
Charter College holds institutional accreditation from the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) to award bachelor's, associate, and certificate degrees. The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The college is authorized by multiple certifying boards including the American Association of Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, and American Dental Association. It participates in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).
Charter College operates 10 physical locations across six states with headquarters in Reno, Nevada. Main campuses are located in Anchorage (Alaska), Canyon Country and Oxnard (California), Reno (Nevada), Farmington (New Mexico), Salt Lake City (Utah), and Lacey, Pasco, Vancouver, and Yakima (Washington). The college provides comprehensive student services including financial aid assistance, student coaching for non-academic challenges, career services with resume and interview preparation, and regular career fairs. Community engagement includes blood drives, food drives, and local outreach events.
In 2023, Charter College faced financial challenges and was listed as 'at risk' by Washington and 'financially unsound' by Alaska due to a 5.2 million dollar net operating loss in fiscal 2022. The college implemented a 10% administrative staff reduction and transferred one million dollars to ACPE as a surety bond. By April 2024, the college was removed from Alaska's financially unsound status, and Washington removed its at-risk designation effective July 23, 2024. In 2022, Charter College partnered with C4L Academy to allow students to pursue high school diplomas alongside vocational training.
