The agricultural school of the Centre Frère-Moffet came into being in 1939, thanks to Frère Moffet, a brother of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate who is considered the 'father of Témiscamingue' (1852 – 1932). The building was built to meet a need for agricultural training and has been an educational institution since its earliest days. The building celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2014.
The centre continues its original agricultural focus by offering a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in animal production. It also offers recognition of acquired skills and competencies for vocational trades, once learners provide proof of them. The centre states that its services are developed according to the training needs of its learners.
The centre states that it offers comprehensive and sustained support for the success of each adult in training, working with local resources when needed. A student support service is available for financial aid, including student loans and bursaries.
The centre rents its premises for business meetings, training and other gatherings. Available rooms include a large hall with a kitchen and sound system, and a classroom with an interactive whiteboard.
