The École des Métiers de Donnacona was built between May 1964 and June 1965. Roch Rainville was the first school director, and his first mandate was to recruit teachers for the five trades taught. Between 1969 and 1985 the École des Métiers was integrated into the polyvalente de Donnacona. The centre was later named Centre la Croisée, then Centre de la Croisée, and is now called Centre de formation de Portneuf.
The Donnacona centre offers vocational diploma (DEP) programs in secretariat, accounting, administrative assistant, welding-assembly, and machining, among others. The health sector DEP programs and the automobile mechanics DEP are offered at the Saint-Raymond centre. The centre states that its teachers come from the trade and that it offers personalized supervision in small groups.
The centre currently offers two vocational training service points, in Donnacona and Saint-Raymond, and three general training service points, in Donnacona, Saint-Raymond and Saint-Casimir. The centre states it has modern equipment in functional workshops. Free parking spaces are available on site.
