A public vocational training centre in Coaticook, Québec, offering DEP diploma programs in agriculture, horticulture and related trades.
The Centre de formation professionnelle de Coaticook (CRIFA) is a public institution affiliated with the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec. Located in Coaticook, 34 km from Sherbrooke and 30 km from Magog, it describes itself as a centre of excellence in agriculture and horticulture. Its stated missions include fostering regional agricultural development through specialized training and contributing to a qualified workforce that meets regional business needs.
The centre offers more than 17 training programs leading to a diploma of vocational studies (DEP). It is the only institution in the Cantons-de-l'Est region that groups the DEP diplomas for agriculture and horticulture trades. Its Projet éducatif covers the period 2023-2027.
Courses are given across three sites: the central pavilion at 125 rue Morgan in Coaticook, the La Frontalière pavilion at 311 rue Saint-Paul Est in Coaticook, and the Haut-Saint-François pavilion at 188 rue Kennedy in East Angus. A farm school and experimental fields, used through a partnership with the CIARC, support teaching and practice. Horticulture students have access to a teaching garden and greenhouses, while mechanical agriculture and automobile mechanics are taught in workshop classrooms. Listed facilities include a bistro, microwave ovens, parking, an electric vehicle charging station, and access to public transit and carpooling.
The centre accepts applications from Québec residents, international students, and candidates seeking recognition of prior learning and competencies (RAC).
In 2025, Charlie Véronneau and Logan Poisson won a gold medal in the Canadian landscaping division. The centre also hosts the Gala Méritas, an event that highlights the efforts and successes of its students.
