Recognition of acquired competencies (RAC) is a process that officially assesses and recognizes competencies gained through life and work experience in relation to a study program. The RAC process requires no prior schooling and is free of charge, and it results in an official document, such as a bulletin or diploma, attesting the competencies mastered. RAC is offered for the Attestation d'études professionnelles (AEP) program in Sécurité privée Gardiennage. Mastery of the French language is now an admission condition for any application to a DEP program by candidates who studied outside Canada.
Prospective students can spend a day as an 'élève d'un jour' with a training group, meet teachers, and visit workshops. Admissions requires an appointment, which can be made online at admissionfpea@cssmv.gouv.qc.ca or by phone at 450 670-0730, extension 2127. RAC inquiries can be directed to 450 670-0730, extension 8151, or to rac@csmv.qc.ca.
