Cégep de Jonquière is a public college in Jonquière, Quebec, offering preuniversity and technical programs since 1967.
The Cégep de Jonquière was inaugurated in 1967 following Bill 60, supported by minister Paul Gérin-Lajoie. It welcomed its first students in September 1967. The Centre linguistique de Jonquière, a French immersion school, was created in 1969, and the Fondation Asselin was created the same year to advance education and research. The Centre d'études collégiales en Charlevoix (CECC) was created in 1994 to meet local higher-education needs.
The college offers 26 postsecondary training programs: six preuniversity programs, twenty technical programs and one Tremplin DEC program. Its Art et technologie des médias (ATM) family includes four distinct programs, which is unique in Quebec. The college employs more than 500 people, including 350 teachers.
ÉCOBES, created in 1982, is described as the most important collegiate research centre in applied social sciences. In 2012, the college established the first industrial research chair in colleges in renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency (TERRE).
The college places students, both young and adult, at the centre of its concerns and aims for excellence in all its interventions. It works with local organizations to contribute actively to the development of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
The campus address is 2505, rue Saint-Hubert, Jonquière, Quebec G7X 7W2. Listed facilities include a student residence (Pavillon Piékouagami), a library, a swimming pool, a fitness room, a main cafeteria, canteens, Wi-Fi, a psychosocial reception service, a health service, parking, the Magasin scolaire l'Encrier, and help centres.
