Catholic International University offers Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Arts degrees, along with undergraduate and graduate certificates and non-degree programs. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, with its Graduate School of Theology accredited by the Association of Theological Schools. In Fall 2023, the university began offering an AA degree in Liberal Arts taught entirely in Spanish, establishing itself as the only emerging Hispanic-serving institution of higher education in West Virginia.
All degree and certificate programs are delivered completely online, with the university offering its first online program in 2000. Distance education is facilitated through a robust online platform providing flexible learning opportunities via virtual classrooms, interactive modules, multimedia resources, discussion forums, live sessions, and digital assignments. Catholic International's digital prison ministry, launched in 2018, has grown significantly. As of April 2026, 119 Catholic International courses are available across 1,651 facilities, with 3,297,663 lessons completed. This ministry extends the university's educational mission to incarcerated individuals, providing access to faith-based education and personal development opportunities.
