Butler offers a free, quick online application for new, returning, transfer, guest, international, and high school students. Applicants need a Social Security number, program choice, and desired start date. The college provides placement testing in math and English, CLEP exams, and GED testing to help students start at the appropriate level. Advising appointments are available but not required; walk-ins are welcome at multiple locations. Testing requirements may be waived based on prior college credit, standardized test scores, or high school GPA.
Butler's Grizzlies compete in NAIA and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC), with teams in football, basketball, cross country, track, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and softball. The college has won 10 NJCAA national championships, including six football titles (1981, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2008) and a 2016 softball national championship. The women's softball team achieved an 88-consecutive-game winning streak beginning March 3, 2016. Butler's athletic and academic programs are nationally recognized, and the college emphasizes student success both in and out of the classroom.
