Blue Ridge Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award five types of Associate degrees: Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.), Associate in General Education (A.G.E.), and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.Sc.). All programs are approved by the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges. The college offers both curriculum and continuing education classes across its three campuses.
The Henderson County Campus in Flat Rock comprises 13 buildings on 128 acres, located 2.5 miles southeast of Hendersonville. The Transylvania County Campus in Brevard, completed in 2008, occupies two facilities on nine acres. The Health Sciences Center in downtown Hendersonville is a shared facility with UNC Health Pardee and Wingate University, focusing on healthcare-related programs.
Established in May 1969 as Henderson County Technical Institute, the college began operations on December 1, 1969, with the first course offered January 8, 1970. The institution underwent several name changes before adopting its current name in 1987. The Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation, Inc., founded in 1974, provides private support to the college.
